The Sabbath

"And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,  Speak also to the children of Israel, Saying, You must keep my Sabbaths: For it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies you. Therefore you shall keep the Sabbath; for it is holy to you: every one who desecrates it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work in it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Yahweh: whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.  Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." Exodus 31:12-17

Which day should we keep for the Sabbath?  Should we keep the first day of the week commonly known as Sunday?  Or, should we keep the sixth day of the week commonly known as Friday?  There are many opinions on which day to keep among Ch--stianity and the Muslim nations.  Should the seventh day of the week commonly known as Saturday be recognized as the Sabbath day?

Today there are three major religions upon the earth at this time, and these are known as Judaism, Islam, and Chr--tianity.  These comprise the three major religious groups of our time.   The Jewish people keep the seventh day commonly known as Saturday as their Sabbath.  The Muslims keep the sixth day commonly known as Friday as their day of rest.  While the Chr--tians keep the first day of the week commonly known as Sunday for their day of rest.

In the beginning when the heavens and the earth were created you see a counting system employed in Genesis, each day was numbered.  From day one to day six, some part of creation was finished.  After the six days of work, it was called tov me'od or very good!

"And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day Elohim finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which Elohim had created and made." Genesis 2:1-3

If we take a straight forward approach and look at the secular calendar used in America, and many other countries of the world, we arrive at Saturday (commonly called) as the seventh day. But, in some countries the secular calendar has been changed to reflect Sunday as the seventh day as they begin the week with Monday. I believe we can use the process of elimination to determine which day to keep. The Jewish people (for the most part) have kept the seventh day from ancient times. The Chr--tians rely on the Council of Laodicea in 364 of our common era as their reference point.  Here many changes were made to separate the Jewish people and their Biblical ways from the Romans et. al. and their ways.  Here is where Judaism was hijacked from the Jewish people and translated over to another religion complete with the Jewish writings which were now altered to suit their way of thinking. The Sabbath day was changed from the seventh day to the first day of the week.  Here the dietary laws of the Torah were loosed so the people could eat any thing they wanted along with many other changes.  Look at the following from history!

*The forsaking of the Sabbath, and the enforcing of Sunday observance was instigated by a Roman Emperor who was a devoted "Sun-Worshipper". Here are bits and pieces from a letter he wrote in about A.D. 365 to the "heretics" (non-Catholics / true Christians), -"Forasmuch, then, as it is no longer possible to bear with your pernicious errors, we give warning by this present statute (Law) that none of you henceforth presume to assemble yourselves together. We have directed, accordingly, that you be deprived of all the houses in which you are accustomed to hold your assemblies....Take the far better course of entering the Catholic church." (Eusebius' -Life of Constantine, Book III) Commentary: Notice that even after more than 300 years True Believers were still observing the Sabbath day.

*Although the abolishment of the Sabbath and establishment of Sunday worship came through the Roman Catholic ch--ch, they freely admit there is absolutely no Biblical authority for it. Notice these statements by Roman Catholic Cardinal Gibbon, -"Is not every [Christian]  obliged to sanctify SUNDAY, and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this LAW among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of SUNDAY. The SCRIPTURES enforce the religious observance of SATURDAY (Seventh-day), a day we never sanctify." (Faith of our Fathers, by Cardinal Gibbon)

Commentary: The official Catholic position is that their authority is above the Holy Scriptures. They believe Yahshua's statement to His disciples that whatever they bind on earth would be bound in Heaven, gives them the authority to change even the practice of carefully observing the Commandments of Yahweh. Although the Protestants rejected the sainthood of Miriam, the mother of Yahshua, and the supreme authority of the Pope, they never returned to keeping all Ten Commandments, as they adopted the same worship day as their mother ch--ch.

Was the Sabbath changed by the Creator? Where can we find that in the Bible? The Roman Catholic Ch--ch changed the keeping of the Sabbath on the seventh day to the first day of the week. This is the organization that hijacked the true faith from the Jewish people. History records the Sabbath still being observed across the  centuries. Eusebius records the seed of Abraham fleeing to Pella (Trans Jordan) where they could serve their Master and keep the Sabbath day. [Eusebius's Ecclesiastical History.]

*According to the noted historian, H.G. Wells, Chr--tian Sunday worship was borrowed from Pagan Sun-Worship. "During this indefinite time a considerable amount of a sort of theocrasia (intimate union) seems to have gone on between the Chri--ian cult and the almost equally popular and widely diffused Mithraic cult, and the cult Serapis-Isis-Horus. From the former it would seem the Chr--tians ADOPTED SUNDAY as their chief DAY OF WORSHIP instead of the Jewish SABBATH." (The Outline of History 1, pg 455)

*Early Ch--ch leader, Origen also enjoined the keeping of the Sabbath. "After the festival of the unceasing sacrifice (the crucifixion) is put the second festival of the Sabbath, and it is fitting for whoever is righteous among the saints to KEEP ALSO THIS FESTIVAL of the SABBATH. There remaineth therefore a sabbatismus, that is a keeping of the Sabbath, to the people of Yahweh. "[Hebrews 4:9] (Homily on Numbers 23, para. 4, in Migne, Patrologia Groeca, Vol. 12, cols. 749,750)

*The early assembly taught the Sabbath was for Elohim's work of providence and meditation on His way of life. "Thou shalt observe the Sabbath, on account of Him who ceased from His work of creation, but ceased not from His work of providence; it is a rest for meditation of the law, not for idleness of the hands." (Constitution of the Holy Apostles, Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7, pg 413, 3rd century) This was over 300 years after the resurrection of Messiah.

Yahshua the Messiah states "the Sabbath was made for man." "And he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: so that the Son of man is Master of the Sabbath." Mark 2:27-28 Eventually the entire earth will know the Sabbath day as the day of rest when Yahshua returns to rule this world in righteousness. This is referenced to in Colossians 2:16-17. " Let no man judge you therefore in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day, or a new moon, or a Sabbath: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body of the Messiah."

The Sabbath day was, and still is a sign between Almighty Yahweh and his people. This is another indicator separating the various organizations. The true organization must be a Sabbath keeping organization.

So in order to make an informed choice the following criteria must be applied.

1. There will be indicators between truth and error revealed in the organizations teachings when strictly compared to the Bible. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing!

2. The name of Almighty Yahweh in its' correct form and pronunciation, must be used by any organization promulgating truth.

3.  The Sabbath day must be correctly identified and observed by any organization as a sign of separation between other religious groups. Sunday keepers are out! Friday keepers are out!

By the process of elimination we will be able to identify truth from error!

I have a lot more to say on the Sabbath Day observation, and may write more on this subject.

This will end part four!
