PART FIVE

"Now the Spirit of Yahweh departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh troubled him.
And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from Elohim troubles  Let our master now command your servants, that are before you, to seek out a man who is a skilful player on the harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from Elohim is upon you, that he shall play with his hand, and you shall be well.
And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
Then answered one of the young men, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-lehemite, that is skilful in playing, and a mighty man of valor, and a man of war, and prudent in speech, and a comely person; and Yahweh is with him.
Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.
And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.
And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armor bearer.
And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray you, stand before me; for he has found favor in my sight.
And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from Elohim was upon Saul, that David took the harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him."  1 Samuel 16:14-23

In the beginning relationship, King Saul loved David greatly!  Later that love turned to hatred.  The hatred became so intense, that King Saul tried to kill David on several occasions!  What changed?  What happened that changed the emotions of King Saul from love to hate?

It is said there is only a fine line between love and hate!  Is this true?

The picture of the trees show a contrast.  One tree (on the left) is defined.  The other tree (on the right) is twisted, definition has changed.  So it is with love and hate.  There are several contrasting emotions that the average human being either experiences, or comes into contact with during their lifetime.  Let's list some of them!

"One of the two poles of each basic emotion has usually more survival value than the other. Therefore, we tend to experience it more often and in stronger intensities than the other. Sometimes, when things are complicated, we can experience a quick fluctuation of the experience between the two poles of a basic emotion or a number of them." [Ilan Shalif (Ph.D.)]

The following is a tentative list of 15 basic emotions:
1) Contentment (Pleasure - Sorrow)
2) Concern (Love - Hate)
3) Security (Fear - Serenity)
4) Play (Seriousness - Frolic)
5) Belonging (Attachment - Solitude)
6) Will power (Volition - Surrender)
7) Energy (Rigor - Flimsiness)
8) Frustration (Anger - Leniency)
9) Involvement (Interest - Boredom)
10) Self Respect (Pride - Shame)
11) Eminence (Superiority - Inferiority)
12) Respect (Adoration - Scorn)
13) Vigilance (Wariness - Dreaminess)
14) Expectancy (Surprise - Routine)
15) Attraction (Disgust - Desire)

    Ilan Shalif (Ph.D.)

Comparing each item in this list, will reveal an emotional contrast.  If you are content, you have pleasure in being content.  If you are not content, you experience sorrow.  Concern; can bring love or hate, and sometimes concern can bring both of these emotions simultaneously.  Emotional vacillation can be found in love/hate relationships.  Read the rest of these emotional contrasts to arrive at an understanding of how each one can be applied in your life.

How did King Saul go from loving David to hating him?  Let's get some background.

"And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As your soul lives, O king, I cannot tell.
And the king said, Inquire you whose son the stripling is.
And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
And Saul said to him, Whose son are you, young man? And David answered, I am the son of your servant Jesse the Beth-lehemite."  1 Samuel 17:55-58

David had defeated Goliath in combat.  Going forth in the Name of Yahweh of Hosts, David de-capitates Goliath.  David is indeed fearless!  David is a true warrior!  But!  Something happened that changed their relationship!

"And David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants.
And it came to pass as they came, when David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with timbrels, with joy, and with instruments of music.
And the women sang one to another as they played, and said, Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.
And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?
And Saul eyed David from that day and forward
.
 And it came to pass on the morrow, that an evil spirit from Elohim came mightily upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as he did day by day. And Saul had his spear in his hand;
and Saul cast the spear; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
And Saul was afraid of David, because Yahweh was with him, and was departed from Saul."  1 Samuel 18:5-12

The emotion that can change an individual from love to hate!  We call it the green eye of envy!

Going from a good young man, to a good King (although temporary), Saul fell a long way from grace.  Because he failed on numerous occasions to obey the commands of Almighty Yahweh, Elohim sent an evil spirit to trouble King Saul.  This evil spirit was so bad, it compelled King Saul to try and kill David!  Did this evil spirit recognize David's position in Yahweh's plans?  Did this evil spirit recognize David's kingship?  Did it know the eventual lineage results, that the future King, Yahshua the Messiah, would proceed from David?

One only has to make a small mental leap to find similar comparisons in the Heavens.  Surely, Heylel loved Father Yahweh at one time, didn't he?  Surely there was positive affection between them, don't you think?  Something changed in the Heavens that caused an emotional difference between them!

"You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you."  Ezekiel 28:15

Well! Well!  Something changed internally!  Did Almighty Yahweh sense a change within Heylel?  What changed in the mind of this Arch Angel?

 "And you said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of El; and I will sit upon the mount of congregation, in the uttermost parts of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."  Isaiah 14:13-14

Obviously, from this passage (coupled with other passages in the Bible), Satan wanted to supplant Almighty Yahweh as the Heavens Supreme leader!  But?  Yahweh knows all!

"For the Word of Yahweh is living, and powerfully working, and sharper than every two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of both soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge of the thoughts and intentions of the heart;
and there is no creature unrevealed before Him; but all things are naked and laid open to His eyes, with whom is our account."
  Hebrew 4:12-13

Father Yahweh knows everything about His entire creation.

"And from there they asked for a king. And Yahweh gave Saul the son of Kish to them, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
And removing him, He raised up to them David for a king, to whom He also said, witnessing, "I found David" the son of Jesse "to be a man according to My own heart, who will do all My will." 1 Samuel 13:14; Psa. 89:20; LXX-Isa. 44:28
Of the seed of this one, according to promise, Yahweh raised up to Israel a Savior, Yahshua;"  Acts 13:21-23

By comparison we see that King Saul was not a man after Yahweh's own heart, but David was!  Yahshua was a man of Yahweh's own choosing, a man after Yahweh's own heart.

"And he that sent me is with me; he has not left me alone; for I do always the things that are pleasing to him.   John 8:29

What becomes unmistakable, are the striking contrasts between the two Arch Angels, and also the observable hatred between Saul and David.  A pattern?  A comparison?  Perhaps?  You tell me!

Did David hate Saul?  No!  He honored and respected him as Yahweh's anointed.  David was an honorable man, and Yahshua also showed this same character trait.

Good is just that, good!  And evil is just that, evil!  Choices are offered in all walks of life.  You can choose good, or? You can choose evil!  The decision resides within you personally!  If you ever hope to obtain a place in the coming Kingdom ruled by Yahshua the Messiah, good must always be your only choice.

When love turns to hate, there is a serious problem.  Love is always the wiser choice between the two emotions.  Those who love and laugh, have the overall advantage over those whose lives are filled with hatred.  You live better with love being the motivating factor, and you have a better overall outlook on life in general.

Yours in Yahshua, Hawke
