And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all. See that none render to any- one evil for evil; but always follow after that which is good, one toward another, and toward all. Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks: for this is the will of Yahweh in Messiah Yahshua toward you. Quench not the Spirit; despise not prophesyings; prove all things; hold fast that which is good; abstain from every form of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:14-21

Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says Yahweh. Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:17-21

Finally, be you all likeminded, compassionate, loving as brethren, tenderhearted, humble-minded: not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but contrariwise blessing; for to this were you called, that you should inherit a blessing. For,

He that would love life,

And see good days,

Let him refrain his tongue from evil,

And his lips that they speak no guile:

 And let him turn away from evil, and do good;

Let him seek peace, and pursue it.

For the eyes of Yahweh are upon the righteous,

And his ears unto their supplication:

But the face of Yahweh is upon them that do evil. 1 Peter 3:8-12

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why do you ask  me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if you would enter into life, keep the commandments. He said to him, Which? And Yahshua said, You shall not kill, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother; and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The young man said to him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet? Yahshua said to him, If you would be perfect, go, sell that which you have, and give to the poor, and you shal have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions. Matthew 19:16-22

It has come to our attention that an evil spirit of revenge (or getting even) is working in many religious organizations. Our Intel informs us that there are a few people among some of the more conservative religious groups that are using Government Agencies for their revenge! They find supposed wrongs in their particular organizations and then they inform the authorities about these infractions. They have developed a hatred for that particular organization because they cannot live the way of life that is expected.

These things have I spoken to you, that you should not be caused to stumble. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yes, the hour cometh, that whosoever kills you shall think that he offers service to Yahweh. And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.   John 16:1-3

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Matthew 24:9-10

I used the above passages to point out the fact that Yahshua the Messiah and the  Apostles; Peter and Paul, did not advocate getting even no matter what! Yahshua tells the young man what he must do to be saved. I personally have never found any of Yahshua's teachings advocating revenge of any kind! Also, you will find already prophesied the deliverance and betrayal of those who truly believe what the Bible teaches. So it did not surprise us when we learned that Government Agencies were being used for revenge or getting even!

And he sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Master, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Eliyah did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. Luke 9:52-56

Here, two of Yahshua's disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven and destroy these Samaritans who would not receive Yahshua. Does Almighty Yahweh immediately judge individuals and even Nations that reject His written or spoken word? NO! Eventually everyone will be brought into judgment for their actions and lifestyle while they lived in the flesh. Almighty Yahweh many times patiently waits for people to repent!

There is still an attitude of vengeance, retribution or harm among a good many people today! They want to lock up an individual forever if possible instead of following Almighty Yahweh's determination of punishments where applicable! They still want to see people go into the bowels of hell and burn forever if they could have their way! The most effective and expedient way is swift and immediate punishment for crimes committed. Where pre-meditated murder is committed, the death penalty should be applied. When you have theft, restitution must be made. The punishment must fit the crime.

The criminal minded individuals are the hardest to deal with. They always want revenge towards anyone involved in their capture, trial and incarceration. Many convicts will wait years for revenge. Sometimes that is all they think about. They plan their revenge to the minutest detail.

He devises iniquity upon his bed;

He sets himself in a way that is not good;

He abhors not evil. Psalm 36:4

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. Proverbs 12:6

CHAPTER 6.1.2

The Criminal Mind

by Jens-Jacob Sander.

Anger

It will definitely not be denied that anger is a universal emotion which forms mental states. Regarding criminals this emotion is covered by Yochelson and Samenow (1997 p. 268 ff.). They present anger as an emotion which always seems to be haunting the criminal mind, and often with unfortunate dramatic turns and consequences. Sharp (2000 p. 49) maintains that anger is a basic part of the criminal personality and its response to life.

Goleman takes a view of anger in one of its worst forms, rage, like this:

“Of all the moods that people want to escape, rage seems to be the most intransigent; tice found anger is the mood people are worst at controlling. Indeed, anger is the most seductive of the negative emotions …” (Goleman 1996 p. 59.)

The negative emotion, anger, appear to stem from the inner generator of consciousness. This is supported by dream research:

“… In humans, anxiety is the number-one dream emotion. Number two is elation, but third, and way ahead of everything that follows it, is anger. So, of the top three, two unpleasant emotions combined, anxiety and anger far outweigh the pleasant emotion of elation. ...” (Hobson 1999a, p. 182)

This appears fairly certain because during dreaming the informational source of the brain is tending to be entirely internal:

“… the sensory input level remains low compared with waking. This means that the information source is exclusively internal during dreaming, an experimental inference that is firmly supported by our subjective experience: dreams are not only caused by external stimuli, but represent them with difficulty – even if they are strong – and then, the external events are likely to cause awakening. Like the dreaming brain itself, dream consciousness is active, but almost entirely offline.” (Hobson 1999 p. 145.)

With this as a background we shall again turn to Yochelson and Samenow ibid. Anger in the criminal mind will surface with other aspects and qualities compared to anger in the mind of responsible people. The intensity, strength and frequency of anger outlets  from a criminal are of a nature that creates serious repercussions to him. Often it results in serious damages to others, and most unfortunately in many cases it also extends to death - homicide.

“...Anger, though pervasive in the criminal, is not always shown. The criminal is chronically angry - even as he walks down the street. Anger is a mental state that is sometimes expressed outwardly, but more often boils within. It is most dangerous when it is not on the surface. Anger is as basic to his personality as iris is to the eye.” (Yochelson and Samenow 1997 p. 268.)

Further, anger as a mental state spreads like cancer in the criminal. It sparks off with an isolated episode, spreading and spreading into a state of no perspective. The attitude or opinion of criminals in anger state is that nothing has value. There is no logical thinking in the criminal mind in this state. The door of the criminal’s mind is open to destructive thinking. A crime can result any time in this state.

The non-criminal mind in substates of adversities seems to display more differentiated and less extreme anger reactions compared to situations where a criminal finds himself in a state of anger. To the criminal it is as if his entire existence is in jeopardy. Everything is at stake. The likelihood of damages to life and property is imminent when the anger of a criminal is braking loose.

Upon comparing the anger of criminals with the anger of a responsible mind, we shall in the criminal see a durable or lasting anger during waking. This too may support the suggestion that anger in the criminal does not stem from outer circumstances. On the basis of the suggestion and the preceding observations, we should be in position to record anger in the criminal mind as stemming from the non-conscious spilling over to the inner consciousness - that is the consciousness of the brains inner generated mental data. This form of brain state is similar to the fear state.

Our task of placing anger in the brain-mind space cube related to the I-function, the modulation function and activity function of a criminal in the state of anger, still remains. But doing so will almost result in a carbon copy of what we did relating to fear previously. Some modifications may  however apply, as surfacing anger in criminals often leads to aggression directed outwards, for example through extreme motor action, and extreme verbal and mental action meshed together  resulting in e.g. rage. Therefore we should expect increased brain-mind activity. Depending upon this the combined brain-mind function of a criminal acting out his anger should be indicated with a higher activity function compared to a fearful state of a passive criminal.

That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there a thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it has been long ago, in the ages which were before us. Ecc. 1:9-10

And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Yahweh had respect to Abel and to his offering: but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. And Yahweh said to Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your countenance fallen? If you do well, shall it not be lifted up? and if you do not well, sin crouches at the door: and to you shall be its desire, but you shall rule over it. And Cain told Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. Genesis 4:4-8

The criminal mind is nothing new! Wanting revenge and getting even for supposed slights, also are not new. Here Cain took his anger out on his brother. Why? Because his mind was evil. He did not bring himself under control to his evil thoughts and emotions. He became a murderer!

Why is rehabilitating criminals so hard? Read the following and see!

CHAPTER 9.1

What can be done in the realm of habilitation?

Why habilitation and not rehabilitation?

You will have noticed the outlining of the question in the chapter heading using the noun habilitation - there is no mentioning of any prefix re. This is intentional. Yochelson and Samenow, (1994a p. 93) maintain that the criminal never was habilitated in the first place and thus cannot be rehabilitated. Rehabilitation in this situation would be meaningless.

Rehabilitation, however, is a term widely used in connection with attempts of making criminals become responsible citizens. This term obviously appears to be based on an assumption of innocence with some similarity to that of the law; the legal assumption that evryone is innocent until proven guilty before a court.

A general, but still un-reflected concept of society is that no one is a criminal until he has committed a crime. And until this occurs a person is viewed as habilitated. Such view is based on one simple outer formality – the loss of innocence – the committing of crime. While Yochelson and Samenow were applying a concept of a criminal personality based upon the existence of their phenomenologically described 52 ways of thinking typically leading to crime, the bearer of which is the criminal mind. This is a criminal mind which they alleged to be tracing back to early childhood.

As we know, Yochelson and Samenow’s statements were based upon 15 years of search and experience. Since we now by means of recent advances of brainscience have established support to substantial elements of their findings and descriptions, it should not come as surprise that they found a working way to change criminals too.

Still, we shall explore the validity of their assertions relating to habilitation in the light of neuroscience. However, it must be recognized that this unfortunately will involve elements of speculation. So you are kindly invited to take part in this process, to follow it and to draw your own conclusions. [Ibid]

Even a child makes himself known by his doings,

Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. Proverbs 20:11

Many times criminals (simply put) cannot be re-habilitated. They were never habilitated in the first place! Let's see some definitions for both words for better understanding.

re·ha·bil·i·tate ('hə-bĭl'ĭ-tāt')
tr.v., -tat·ed, -tat·ing, -tates.

  1. To restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education.
  2. To restore to good condition, operation, or capacity.
  3. To reinstate the good name of.
  4. To restore the former rank, privileges, or rights of.

[Medieval Latin rehabilitāre, rehabilitāt-, to restore to a former rank : Latin re-, re- + Late Latin habilitāre, to enable; see re'ha·bil'i·tat'a·ble adj.

If humans in general, (including criminals) prove not to be useful to society in general, they must be made useful through training and education, so they can become viable citizens, contributors instead of takers . This can clearly be seen in repentance and conversion.

We can be like Abel who pleased Yahweh with his correct offerings or we can be like Cain who brought offerings unacceptable to Yahweh and was rejected. He was told to do well, but instead chose evil. He exhibited the characteristics of the criminally minded people who followed his lineage. He unleashed his anger upon his own brother. Projecting a stereotype of criminals to come, Cain set the president and pattern. He killed his brother! He lied and said he didn't know where his brother was! He refused to repent when confronted with his sin! Does this sound familiar? Yes! It does! Cain; the first human criminal!

Criminally minded individuals occupy a very grey area in their thinking. They operate in the grey and darker areas of thinking and acting. Most criminals know the difference between right and wrong. Most of the time they choose wrong. However, there are those who repent and choose the right instead of the wrong. They begin to habilitate themselves through the word of Father Yahweh. They become useful productive citizens instead of non-productive criminals.

Should we get even at any cost? Should we take vengeance for wrongs suffered? Should we render evil for evil?

Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as in you lies, be at peace with all men. Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath of Yahweh: for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will recompense, says Yahweh. But if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shall heap coals of fire upon his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Roman 12:16-ff
