COMPROMISE. Such an adjustment of conflicting interests as gives each adversary the satisfaction of thinking he has got what he ought not to have, and is deprived of nothing except what was justly his due. Ambrose Bierce 1842-1914, American Author, Editor, Journalist, ''The Devil's Dictionary''

It is the weak man who urges COMPROMISE -- never the strong man. Elbert Hubbard 1859-1915, American Author, Publisher

Recent events once again reveal man's inherent weakness for compromise.  Willing to take the easy road, capitulation becomes a necessity.  Why stand and fight for what you believe, when you can avoid any ugly confrontation with compromise.  The concessions of modern Israel to the Palestinian demands serve as the visual for compromise.  Give them the land they want and they will leave us alone most Israelis believe.  The weak-minded liberals of modern Israel believe they can form an alliance, a truce, with these terrorist aggressors.  They are deceiving themselves into believing that "Peace" is a possibility through compromise.

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that anything be written to you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of Yahweh so comes as a thief in the night. When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall in no wise escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3

Do you really think that peace is a possibility in Israel today?   Do you really believe that any peace conditions will last for any length of time?  Through politics and compromise, terms will be reached concerning this so-called false peace accord in the Holy Land.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely. They have healed also the hurt of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, says Yahweh.  Jeremiah 6:13-15

Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: and a manís foes shall be they of his own household.  Matthew 10:34-36

Peace won by the COMPROMISE of principles is a short-lived achievement. Source Unknown

What kind of people compromise?  What character flaws exist with anyone willing to make a deal with the devil?  Would the following characteristics describe someone who would compromise?

Exaggerated self-importance has various names - superiority complex, arrogance, vanity, conceit, egotism, and many others - and is based on "special person" misconceptions. The individual is constantly engaged in attempts to have others acknowledge his or her superiority, which if threatened, is defended vigorously. If the defense is unsuccessful, anxiety and depression result. The following five false beliefs are manifested by most:

The "special person's" constant efforts to control, his attitudes of superiority, his masked hostilities, and his empty perfectionism betray the highly competitive person who must have his own way and must be right at all costs. The failure to trust others is manifested by suspiciousness which may verge on the paranoid. Other characteristics of the "special person" are a highly critical attitude towards others, little empathy with others, lack of insight about the self, and self-righteousness.

Over-indulgence in childhood may be the cause, although other sources may include early identification with an illustrious or dominating parent or with fantasized heroes. Such people often become flawed leaders, who have problems with their families and intimates. Misconceptions about the self may drastically and unrealistically limit the kinds of behavior an individual is willing to engage in, or they may relentlessly force him into unwise behavior which leads him to perpetual defeat.

The preceding description portrays an individual that wants to win at any cost, compromise included.  He may state that he/they would never compromise, but the truth is he/they will.

Webster's Universal Dictionary describes compromise as follows:

Compromise n a settlement of a dispute by mutual concession; a middle course or view between two opposed ones. * vti  to adjust by compromise; to lay open to suspicion, disrepute, etc. -compromiser n

What you see in the above description , with compromise, agreement is always reached by concession.  This means giving in to ones'  demands. The results will almost always fall under the dark cloud of suspicion.

COMPROMISE is never anything but an ignoble truce between the duty of a man and the terror of a coward. Reginald W. Kaufman

Another example of compromise is displayed in the Senate Judicial confirmation hearings.  President Bush sends the Senate a list of Judges he would like appointed to serve in various judicial benches.  The debate as to qualifications begins.  The GOP feel that President Bush's selection is the right one.  The Democrats on the other side of the isle reject them because their judicial ideology doesn't match theirs.  The debates begin, often becoming heated.  Eventually the Judge is confirmed. (Most of the time.)  What you do not see is the political compromise behind the scene.  Concessions are made.  Favors are exacted for confirmation of selected judges.  Why couldn't the Judge be selected on Constitutional knowledge or judicial expertise overall?

Let's look at an example of compromise from the Holy Word.

"Now King Solomon loved many foreign women: the daughter of Pharaoh, and Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which Yahweh had said to the people of Israel, "You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their Elohim"; Solomon clung to these in love. He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other Elohim; and his heart was not wholly true to Yahweh his Elohimd, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the elohim of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and did not wholly follow Yahweh, as David his father had done."
"Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem. And so he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their Elohim."

"And Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel, Who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other Elohim; but he did not keep what Yahweh commanded. Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, "Since this has been your mind and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant. Yet for the sake of David your father I will not do it in your days, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen." (1 Kings 11:1-13 RSV)

Solomon compromised his position!  He compromised his beliefs!  He made agreements with his many wives that led his heart away from Yahweh.  The compromise in this passage is obvious.

Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? or what communion has light with darkness? And what concord has Messiah with Belial? or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has a temple of Elohim with idols? for we are a temple of the living Elohim; even as Yahweh said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be my people. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16

The Anglican Ch-rch should express regret over the appointment of a gay bishop in the US, the general synod says...

The division in the Ch-rch of England over the appointment of an openly gay bishop appears to be deepening...

Forcing the congregants of this denomination to accept an openly gay bishop, places them in a very untenable  position.

What will happen in this case?  The congregants will be forced to compromise their faith or; depart and find another organization with their same beliefs.  I do not believe any good will come of this appointment.  The same can be said of the Catholic C-urch.  By their mis-application of scriptures, they forbid their priests to marry.  Because of this erroneous stance, they are paying a high price.  The priests that are perverted and unable to control their carnal urges, find fertile ground with altar boys, and also among themselves for relief from carnal desires.  Meanwhile the members of the Catholic Ch-rch must either follow along blindly (compromise) or depart from their faith.

Everywhere we turn we are faced with decisions that dictate our true character.  Will we compromise or will we take a firm stand?  Will we live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of Yahweh, or, will we make concessions and compromise our faith?

Anybody who accepts mediocrity -- in school, on the job, in life -- is a person who COMPROMISEs, and when the leader COMPROMISEs, the whole organization COMPROMISEs. Charles Knight

There are individuals now on this earth that are vying for positions of Priest and Kings in the Heavenly Kingdom to come.  Will anyone who compromises Abba Yahweh's Torah Law be given this responsibility?  No!  That is an impossibility!  Abba Yahweh has set the standard of obedience through His Torah Law.  Yahshua the Messiah set the standard for living, through total obedience to Torah while he was here on earth!  He became the PERFECT sacrifice for our transgressions.  Did Yahshua compromise?  Did he give in when the pressure was the greatest?  No!   If Yahshua would have compromised, he would have been rejected as the Savior of man!

Now, you tell us here at Truth On The Net Dot Com if you can weaken the Torah law?  Tell us you can reduce the applications required of the Chosen Ones!  Tell us you can dilute the Truth and make it a little more palatable for our time. Situation Ethics so to speak!

In all of these; there will be compromise by most!  Only a few will ever realize the necessary requirements to enter into life everlasting!  Will you be one of those?
